Stitching Help

Stitching instructions for Card Kits. Here are some instructions that can help you when stitching cards from the Card Kits:

Backstitch:
Backstitching is considered a running stitch. Each stitch is created by always looping back on top and then coming up a little ahead of the next stitch. Start by bringing the thread through on the stitch line and then make a small backward stitch through the material. Next, bring the needle through again a little in front of the first stitch. Then take another stitch, inserting the needle at the point where it first came through.

French Knot:
Making a French Knot provides the material with a 3-D effect. Start by bringing the needle up through the material. Point the needle toward yourself then wrap the floss clockwise around the needle. The thread is looped either once or twice around the needle; the needle is inserted partway into either in the same hole or a neighboring hole. Insert the needle back down through the material, holding the floss taut until needle is completely through the material, pulling gently to tighten.
Be careful not to pull too hard, or knot may slip through material.

Straight Stitch:
The straight stitch is created by bringing the needle up at A and down at B. Stitch can be of any length and be worked in any direction. It does not need to be connected to the last stitch or to any stitch, unless the pattern calls for it. It is simply bringing the thread up and down in any stitch line to make the pattern come to life.
